Character Name: Satsuki Kiryuuin
Character Canon: Kill la Kill
History: The wiki gives a rather accurate if short summary of Satsuki’s history. More of it can be found in the personality and relationships sections, as those cover the events of canon.
AU History: In this setting, Satsuki’s mother is a member and sponsor of team Evolution. She still sacrificed her daughters to the experiments conducted by the team, this time driven by her devotion to their ideal of strength and her own power hunger. However, the experiments on Satsuki failed to produce the desired results and so she was just raised as an asset to team Evolution by her manipulative mother, who pretended to be caring and loving towards Satsuki, encouraging her to believe in and follow the team’s ideals. Satsuki thought herself happy like that, eager to follow into her mother’s footsteps and make her proud, until one day her father told her the truth of her mother’s intentions, and that Satsuki and her little sister, thought to be deceased, were nothing but a means to an end to her.
Like in canon, Satsuki changed since that moment – adopting a chillier demeanor towards her mother and seeking independence from her and the team, she still pretended to be their ally, and started to leave the team to travel – for the sake of the team, she said, scouting and researching areas that were deemed too dangerous at first. But what she actually did was seek out people who would become her allies in her planned rebellion against team Evolution and train to grow stronger.
Her first visit to Union was together with the team - however, while Rory and the others got a lot of public attention, Satsuki mostly stayed away and didn't associate with people much, trying not to draw attention to herself by exposure or too much secrecy. Instead, she tried to blend in and find information on her own, while at the same time still looking for possible allies. It was at that time she encountered Uzu Sanageyama, who realized she was an outsider. With the uneasy atmosphere in the city, the two clashed in battle, but came out of it on rather friendly terms: having defeated Sanageyama, Satsuki nevertheless acknowledged his strength and resolve.
Some time after the visit to Union, Satsuki decided it was time for her to leave the team for good. She sneaked out of the camp one night, taking with her nothing but her sword and a set of enhanced clothing that her mother had intended for her to wear in case the experiments carried out on Satsuki proved successful (and when they didn’t, it was put away with some regret and kept hidden until that day). And so, Satsuki set out to find Union and Sanageyama again – partly to protect it in case team Evolution decided to strike at it, partly to recruit Sanageyama for her rebellion.
Canon Personality:
Possibly the best word to describe Satsuki is “strong”. Strong not just in the physical sense, although her physical prowess is remarkable, but also in the sense of mental strength – determination, dedication, willpower, she’s got it all. Especially willpower and determination – she always follows through with her plans (always a part of a bigger scheme to overthrow her mother), using any means she deems necessary, and refusing to back down no matter what. Her willpower is greater than anybody else’s, as she’s shown to wear a Kamui (an undertaking that can easily kill anyone who tries it) and use it by simply overpowering it with her will, despite not having the predisposition to being able to wear a Kamui. Despite the fact that wearing Junketsu tires her out greatly, she still never shows it during battles.
Satsuki is also very confident in herself and prideful – she first dons Junketsu after declaring that no one is the world does anything before Satsuki Kiryuuin (referring to the fact Ryuuko, the only other person known to possess a Kamui, wears it first). She also doesn’t seem to have much regard towards people in general, calling them pigs in human clothing and declaring that fear is the only thing that truly rules men. However, she seems to respect and care for individual people more, as she grows close to her Elite Four, her butler Soroi, and later her sister and other people. Satsuki respects strength, resolve, and honor in people most – for example, despite her originally chilly demeanor towards Sanageyama and saying that she has no time for losers after his defeat, she comes to respect him again when he sacrifices his eyesight to make up for his overconfidence and earn a second chance at fighting Ryuuko. She also stops another one of her Elite Four, Gamagoori Ira, from committing seppuku after his defeat, and tells all of her Elite Four that their defeat was a rite of passage to grow stronger (despite usually claiming that she has no need for anyone who loses in a fight). Another example is her relationship with her butler Soroi, towards whom she is always affectionate in her own way, always thanking him for his work and praising his tea (which she’d disliked as a child but still drank it no to hurt Soroi’s feelings). However, despite her respect for determined and strong people, she can still be hostile towards them out of her pride or personal dislike, as she is towards Ryuuko (though she seems to regard her as a sort of rival, important to her on a personal level).
Towards the end of the series, Satsuki starts showing a more openly sociable and friendly personality, though still just as strong and determined as ever. The possibly most significant moment is when she runs to catch and save her sister falling from the sky, and later gives her a welcome home when she turns out to be alive and well.
AU Deviation: BNW!Satsuki is a little younger than her canon counterpart, a little more dumb and a little less strong. She’d gone through approximately the same development as in canon, but never quite developed such a great dislike for people, instead focusing her hatred entirely on team Evolution and her mother. However, she’s still much better at liking individuals rather than people as a whole, and still chooses show of strength as the way to solve disputes, arguments, disagreements and just about everything else. Her demeanor is also less cold and more passionate – she hasn’t entirely developed her feeling of superiority she gets in canon from her ambition and noble upbringing. Satsuki also isn’t an invincible warrior in this setting – she’s lost a lot of times during her team Evolution training matches, and as a result has come to appreciate strength and personal growth even more, easily angered by notions of “it’s easy for the strong to speak of strength”, and hates people who would refuse to try to grow stronger and choose self-pity instead.
Having been raised mostly by team Evolution and with her habit of communicating with people only via dueling, Satsuki is also rather oblivious of some aspects of social interaction and social cues (while in canon she rather ignores them). She likes people more easily, though, and is able to express it more freely than she does in canon.
This version of Satsuki also puts honesty and justice before her pride, too – outcomes of battles are almost sacred to her, and if she is defeated she will accept it (but look for ways to grow stronger and battle with her opponent again later). And while she believes in securing victory greatly, she has never connected it with killing people – that’s one thing she would never do (with the exception of her mother, of course). Still, the thought of people who fight for the sake of killing others makes her a little sick and puts her on her guard.
Not being in a drama-fueled atmosphere also makes a lot of her dramatic stunts look a little ridiculous, such as yelling at people from somewhere high up, using people's full names when calling out to them (or their last names, but still yelled out loudly and dramatically), always clicking her heel before doing almost anything, and so on.
Canon Abilities: Satsuki is a master fighter, with outstanding physical strength and reflexes, who’s capable of wielding masterfully not just a sword, but also fighting bare-handed (or barefeet, without using her hands). When her sword is broken and remade into a sword and a dagger, she has no trouble using them just as skillfully as she did her sword.
On that note, her sword, Bakuzan, deserves a special notion – it is said to be very sharp and durable, even more so than Ryuuko’s Scissor Blade, and can also damage a Kamui and Life Fibers. Bakuzan is eventually reforged into Bakuzan Gako and Bakuzan Kouryu which seem to retain Bakuzan’s original capabilities.
Satsuki also has two toenails made of the same metal as Bakuzan, with which she can fight just as well as she does with her sword.
Her more abnormal powers include her Kamui, Junketsu – an article of clothing woven of Life Fibers and possessing a sort of consciousness. It can transform into a ridiculously revealing piece of armor that grants Satsuki incredible power, greatly increasing her physical strength, speed, and resilience. It can also alter itself (Satsuki transforms one of her shoulder guards into a drill once), and later on achieves altered forms that allow it to fly or grow many blades and spikes on itself, which can also function as chainsaws. Unfortunately, Satsuki is unable to fully synchronize with Junketsu, and wearing it tires her out greatly.
Possibly worthy of note is also Satsuki’s unbending mentality and presence – she often states that fear rules men, and is good at inducing it so that sometimes she needn’t even actually fight or even touch people. In another case, she blows off a mob with just her mind/resolve’s power, without resorting to Bakuzan.
Enlightened Abilities: If possible, I would like Satsuki to be a God of War with the types of Steel, Dragon and Ice.
Her Steel type is the most present one and manifests before the other two, even before her character changes with the revelation of truth about her mother. Soon after that, her Dragon type kicks in, too, but Ice only truly starts to manifest several years later.
Satsuki’s initial abilities include simply hardening her skin to become steel-like (and later on, actually steel) and manipulating metal, helping her use her sword to a better extent since it’s almost literally an extension of her arm. As she grows, she focuses on speed and power, receiving abilities like Bullet Punch, Metal Burst, and Mirror Shot (she also possesses a harmless version of it, light emanating from her body at certain times. It runs in the family and nobody is sure why). With the awakening of her Dragon type, which gives her slightly dragon-like appearance, she gains access to moves like Iron Tail, Metal Claw and Steel Wing (a modified version since she does not possess actual wings she could fly with).
When her Dragon type awakens, it mostly manifests by giving her more Pokemon-like traits such as a tail, claws and a sort of wings (that are more like growths on her back than actual wings. But they look cool enough). Thanks to her Steel type, though, all of the physical changes are somewhat retractable, allowing her to maintain a mostly human appearance. Dragon type also contributes to her personality changes – she becomes fiercer and exhibits her fearsome aura. The moves she learns with it are Dragon Claw, Dragon Rush and Dual Chop.
Her Ice typing is the least present of all, at least in her outwards appearance. It mostly gives her the immunity to cold, and the moves she gains with it are similar to her other types’ moves: Ice Fang, Ice Punch, Avalanche, and Freeze Dry.
Among her non-enlightened abilities is still her sword Bakuzan that she keeps sheathed most of the time – it is an enhanced item and possesses the characteristics of, well, Steel type, being sharper and more resilient than normal swords. It also has some characteristics of the Ice type, always really cold to the touch and capable of producing icy mist. It’s mostly for show, though.
She also has an enhanced piece of clothing – Junketsu, that was developed as her future garment in hopes that the experiments on her prove fruitful. Despite the fact that they did not, Satsuki still wears it, although with rather great repercussions – despite the power boost, she can’t wear it for long as it saps her strength greatly and leaves her exhausted. Unlike in canon, Junketsu is not sentient at all, but still can transform into battle mode. It is, however, not revealing like in canon – instead, it has the appearance of a full-body set of white armor that is about as tight-fitting as Satsuki’s normal clothes (her Steel typing allows for that: she’s capable of manipulating Junketsu’s steel and making it fit her body like normal clothing).
Transformed Junketsu covers her throat with a collar, and has some rather impressive shoulder guards (that are smaller than in canon, though, allowing for more maneuverability). It has a breastplate with dark blue lines design on it, and tassets that have a somewhat frilly design to remind of her usual half-skirt. Aside from that, its appearance is close to the canon, fully covering her arms and legs (complete with the high heels). I’ll try to put up a picture later.
Junketsu’s biggest function is to boost Satsuki’s strength greatly in exchange for running on her blood and leaving her exhausted afterwards. As Satsuki progresses, she gains more stamina to be able to wear Junketsu for longer, and eventually gains access to its altered forms, receiving the ability to fly (for a limited amount of time) and grow spikes on Junketsu.
Starter Pokémon: She has none.
Notes/Special Considerations: I think most of it has been covered with the mods before. I suppose the only special consideration would be the information Satsuki has on team Evolution and Gigas, and how much of it exactly she knows and can spread around. We’ve agreed to mostly have Satsuki keep quiet about it though, except for perhaps her personal agenda against team Evo.

First-Person:
[The warp band screen flickers and turns on. It shows the face of a frowning young girl – she doesn’t seem particularly upset, though, that seems to be her normal expression. She looks at the band critically for a couple of seconds before speaking up.]
Sanageyama, is this how this thing works?
[Having apparently received confirmation, the girl straightens up, raising her chin, and speaks again.]
Attention, trainers of Union! I, Kiryuuin Satsuki, have decided to bond with a Pokemon. All of you who train strong ones, I wish to know their names and places of habitat. I have been told I can only bond with no more than three Pokemon, but I shall have every piece of information you can offer, and choose the best three Pokemon. If any of you wish to join me in my search… you may do so. That is all.
[And with that, the transmission ends.]
Third-Person:
In the early hours of morning, heels clicked against the stone of the city wall. At this time, when the only people out are either the really early birds, doing something rather shady, or guards of the city, a white-clad girl was walking the length of the city walls, a sword in her hand. Hard to say how she'd got there, but from her demeanor and the look in her eyes it was just possible she'd ordered someone to let her on the wall, and they did.
She stopped when she got a view that was, in her mind, good enough, and put her swords before her, using it to rest her hands on it. She looked outside the city, at the still-serene landscape still covered with morning fog, and smiled. She'd spent many morning in places like that, in hours like that, quiet cold mornings that gave her a fleeting feeling of freedom and calmness. Come to think of it, it was always then that the thoughts of leaving the team flowed most clearly...
Smiling briefly to herself, the girl - Satsuki Kiryuuin - turned around to look at the towering city behind her. There, life never really seemed to stop, in a way that was both familiar and unusual. People already walking the street, someone out on an early walk with their Pokemon, someone going back home after a long night elsewhere, the guards patrolling, the little street shops opening up.
"The free city of Union, huh..."
That was one of the things Sanageyama had called his city - and, despite herself, Satsuki was curious if it could really be free, more free than the places she had seen before. And now that she was truly here.... perhaps it was time to find out.
Flashing another smile, almost a smirk, Satsuki Kiryuuin picked up her sword with a swift swing, just to feel it almost alive in her hand, and set off down the city wall, determined to learn all she could about the city of Union.
